To President Obama: Please Consider Open Source

Along with other CEOs and leaders from the open source community, I signed last week a letter that was addressed to President Obama, urging him to mandate the consideration of the source of an application solution (open or closed) as part of the government’s technology acquisition process.

Obama’s campaign has probably been the most technology savvy campaign ever, and it’s encouraging to have as President of the United States, someone who appreciates the importance of science and technology and who wants to stimulate America’s growth in these areas.

We are eagerly waiting for the first actions of the goverment in this domain.  And hoping that other countries will follow suit - like France did with the recommendations of the Attali report.
